There is no single number that fits everyone. Water needs depend on body weight, activity, climate and health. That is why ThirstyBot sets your goal from your own body profile instead of a fixed number.
For reference, health authorities give these adequate total water intakes per day (including water from food):
Drinking too much water in a short time can dilute the sodium in your blood (hyponatremia), causing nausea and headaches, and can be dangerous in severe cases. That is why ThirstyBot warns you when your intake for the day is unusually high.
ThirstyBot does not replace medical advice. If you have a medical condition, ask your doctor how much water is right for you.
